Kathleen Quinlan is an American actress who has been active in the entertainment industry since the 1970s. She is best known for her roles in the films Apollo 13 (1995), The Doors (1991), and Breakdown (1997). Quinlan was born on November 19, 1954 in Pasadena, California. She attended San Jose State University and studied acting at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. Quinlan made her film debut in the 1976 drama I Never Promised You a Rose Garden. She went on to appear in a number of films throughout the 1980s and 1990s, including The Promise (1979), The Right Stuff (1983), and The Doors (1991). She received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Apollo 13 (1995). In addition to her film work, Quinlan has appeared in a number of television series, including Family (1976-1980), The Twilight Zone (1985-1986), and Judging Amy (1999-2005). She also had a recurring role on the series Prison Break (2005-2009). Quinlan has been married to actor Bruce Abbott since 1994. They have two children.

Their son Tyler was born in 1990.
Quinlan made her film debut in George Lucas's 1973 nostalgic look at the early '60s, American Graffiti, at age 19, although she had an uncredited role in 1972's One Is a Lonely Number.
